Penciled at bottom of sheet, in an unidentified hand: maitre à danser du duc de Guise.

Acquisition: Purchase; C. Mas, 1989.
Biographical/historical: Philippe Goibaud de Bois is said to have been the maître de chapelle to Marie de Lorraine de Guise, known as Mademoiselle de Guise. He was also a scholar who translated the Confessions of Saint Augustine into French.
