Description
Nasha Thomas and Masazumi Chaya, members of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, reminisce about the late dancer-choreographer Ulysses Dove, sharing their impressions of him in professional and private life. Thomas recalls dancing in his work Vespers, and describes his working process, his use of imagery and anecdotes to elicit the qualities he wanted from the dancers, and his expert use of partnering. She and Chaya discuss his gifts as a dancer, and the universality of his works both in terms of dance technique and emotional significance.
