Abstract
The first 36 minutes of the program present coverage of domestic and international current events and news. Three main stories concern literary critic and biographer of the Irish writers Richard David Ellmann who died on May 13, 1987, Price-Anderson Nuclear Industries Indemnity Act (known as Price-Anderson Act), and tree spiking. The last 11 minutes portray Leonard Bernstein starting with his rapid ascent to stardom at the early age of 25 when he replaced Bruno Walter who was ill, and ending with a commentary by musicologist and Bernstein's biographer, Joan Peyser, who speaks about his almost intimate relationship with his sister Shirley and the impact of his homosexuality and promiscuity with men on his talent and creativity.
