Documentary on the life of American ballet dancer and choreographer Lew Christensen. Covers his early years in Utah and on the vaudeville circuit with his brothers Willam and Harold, his career as premier danseur with George Balanchine's American Ballet, as choreographer of Americana ballets for American Ballet Caravan, as ballet master for Ballet Society and the New York City Ballet, and as director of the San Francisco Ballet and school. Includes interviews with Christensen himself, his brothers Willam and Harold Christensen, his early partner Ruby Asquith, his wife Gisella Caccialanza, composer Virgil Thomson, and Michael Smuin, present director of the San Francisco Ballet. Includes numerous film clips of Christensen performing and of his ballets.
