Content: Although identified as Volinin in the 1929 catalogue raisonné of Kinney's prints, the male dancer portrayed is almost certainly Laurent Novikov.
Citation/reference: Troy Kinney wrote in the 1929 catalogue raisonné: "From Mme. Pavlowa's entire repertoire, she and the artist selected this subject as most characteristic of her work."
Numbering: Number 41 of 53 impressions. (An additional 85 impressions were printed in color.)

Description
The print depicts the moment from Ivan Clustine's ballet Amarilla when the gypsy girl of the same name, dancing with her brother, steadies herself with a tambourine which he holds above her head. Pavlova's partner then left the stage, while the ballerina held an unsupported arabesque on pointe. Pavlova wears a headband and a calf-length dress. Novikov wears a bandanna, loose, short-sleeved shirt, sash, shorts.
