Description
Veteran talent agent Lionel Larner discusses his life and work, and reminisces about several of his memorable clients, with interviewer Michael Riedel. Though he initially hoped to be an actor, Larner found his calling working behind the scenes, as a theatrical casting director. His big break came when he was hired by movie director Otto Preminger to cast his 1957 film Saint Joan. Afterwards, he traveled to New York and eventually established his own, independent talent agency, and worked in theater, film, and television. His clients included Carroll O'Connor, Ethel Merman, Nicol Williamson, Glenda Jackson, Glynis Johns, Anne Baxter and Diana Rigg. He developed a particularly close relationship with Dorothy Loudon. In addition to anecdotes about his clients, Larner discusses the specifics of his work, and how show business has changed during his long career.
