Sound quality is good overall. There are occasional short gaps, and the section on Pilar Rioja is marred by "tape hiss."

Abstract

Notes recorded by Walter Terry in 1974 in New York City regarding Tobi Tobias's review of the Pennsylvania Ballet; Charles Weidman's tribute to Ruth St. Denis; and Pilar Rioja including her work Duende. The section on Rioja was recorded on November 29. Streaming audio file (approximately 24 minutes). Walter Terry speaks about a review by Tobi Tobias of the Pennsylvania Ballet and George Balanchine's use of dramatic elements in his early works; Charles Weidman's tribute to Ruth St. Denis [entitled HIghlight, and performed at the Expression of Two Arts Theater]; performances by Weidman in his studio; [the Mexican dancer] Pilar Rioja including her command of Spanish dance, her work Duende, and her charisma.
