Description
Memorial service for Sir Anton Dolin recorded on January 21, 1984 at the Bruno Walter Auditorium, Library and Museum for the Performing Arts [now The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts] at Lincoln Center, New York. Francis Mason, Alexandra Danilova, Tamara Geva, Vera Zorina, Maria Karnilova, Donald Saddler, Fred Fehl, Joseph Wishy, Oleg Briansky, Sono Osato, Constance Carpenter, Robert Larkin, Clive Barnes, and Lilian Gish speak at the service. Francis Mason introduces the service and speaks about Anton Dolin. Anecdotes about and reminiscences of Anton Dolin are offered by Alexandra Danilova, Tamara Geva, Vera Zorina, Maria Karnilova and Donald Saddler (who, as original members of Ballet Theatre, speak together and read tributes sent by others not present at the service), Fred Fehl, and Joseph Wishy [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2]. Streaming audio file 2 (approximately 41 minutes) Joseph Wily reads a tribute sent by Carla Fracci; anecdotes about and reminiscences of Anton Dolin are offered by Oleg Briansky, Sono Osato, Constance Carpenter, Robert Larkin, Clive Barnes, and Lilian Gish, who also reads a letter Anton Dolin wrote to her in 1983. A brief segment of Joseph Wishy's film The romantic era is shown; the music for which can be heard on the recording.
