Tribute to Martha Graham, recorded on November 20, 1973 at the Library and Museum of the Performing Arts [now The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts], New York (N.Y.). The evening was sponsored by the Friends of The New York Public Library and the Committee for the Dance Collection [now the Jerome Robbins Dance Division]. Speakers include John E. Lockwood, Francis Mason, John Houseman, Isamu Noguchi, William Schuman, Richard Clurman, and Martha Graham. Streaming audio file (approximately 48 minutes). Introductory remarks by the John E. Lockwood, Chairman of The New York Public Library and his introduction of Francis Mason; Francis Mason speaks about Martha Graham and the Dance Collection [now the Jerome Robbins Dance Division] and introduces John Houseman; John Houseman speaks about Martha Graham including some of their collaborations and her contributions to theatrical design and staging; John Houseman introduces Isamu Noguchi; Isamu Noguchi speaks about his long professional relationship with Martha Graham; John E. Lockwood introduces William Schuman; William Schuman speaks about Martha Graham and music; John E. Lockwood introduces Martha Graham reads aloud a telegram from Nancy Hanks; he introduces Richard Clurman, who presents a scroll of appreciation from the City of New York to Martha Graham and reads aloud a congratulatory message from Mayor John V.
