Abstract

Various writers, critics and academics comment on the work of Merce Cunningham, utilizing excerpts from works by composers associated with the choreographer and his dance company. The entire presentation is in German, a language not spoken by the cataloger, and both this and the structure of the program, in which musical excerpts and commentator's remarks appear to often begin without their having been previously identified, have made identification of the exact works heard in the program and the sequence in which commentators are heard difficult to achieve.
