Description
Music director of San Francisco Symphony Michael Tilson Thomas and musicians of the orchestra reflect on the laborious process of preparation to perform Tchaikovsky's 4th symphony. Thomas explores the symphony's four movements one by one and his work on the interpretation of the score and orchestra players comment on their individual parts and the effect their instruments convey. The narration is intercut by short excerpts from the symphony.
