Interview conducted by Marian Horosko, as host, with Lucia Sciorsci and Phillip Rice, dancers with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet, about the current labor dispute; for broadcast on radio station WBAI-FM, New York on its series Dance New York, in 1969. Streaming file (approximately 29 minutes). Marian Horosko, as host, introduces her guests Lucia Sciorsci and Phillip Rice, members of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet; Sciorsci and Rice speak with Horosko about the current labor dispute between the dancers and the Metropolitan Opera, in particular their working conditions and reasons they are not satisfactory; the overall poor working conditions for dancers in the United States as compared with those in Europe; the cancellation of the summer season; the joint representation of the dancers and AGMA [American Guild of Musical Artists]; more on working conditions and studios and the changes they are requesting; Rudolf Bing's remarks regarding the discontinuation of the Ballet Evenings program; their satisfaction with their representation by AGMA; more on the changes they are requesting including with respect to guest artists; possible outcomes of the dispute.
