CONTENTS: The École's old premises are compared with its new facilities, opened in October 1987 at Nanterre. Bessy interviews Maurice Béjart and Roland Petit, who is also appears in a studio rehearsal with a male pupil. Excerpts from the school's annual performance depict Les deux pigeons (chor: Aveline after Mérante; mus: Messager) and Soir de fête (chor: Staats; mus: Delibes). The students are seen on tour in Japan, performing Concerto en ré (chor: Bessy; mus: Bach). Other dance excerpts include Le sacre du printemps (chor: Béjart; mus: Stravinsky), performed by Eric Vu An of the Paris Opéra Ballet with Grazia Galante and members of the Ballet du XXe Siècle; and Carmen (chor: Petit; mus: Bizet), performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov with Zizi Jeanmaire and members of the Ballet National de Marseille Roland Petit.

Description
Four-part series on the École du Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, hosted by its director, Claude Bessy. In addition to the school's teachers and students, the series depicts past and present principal dancers of the Paris Opéra Ballet, people in dance-related professions, and French dance luminaries. Interviews, performances, and demonstration classes provide a multifaceted view of the school's activities and achievements.
