DescriptionRecording of the orchestra rehearsal held on December 19, 1978, at the New York City National Recording Studios in connection with the filming of The Feld Ballet, a television program broadcast on May 16, 1979, as part of the Dance in America series by WNET/13, New York. The rehearsal is of music by Morton Gould, including excerpts of Santa Fe saga [music for Eliot Feld's work Santa Fe saga] and Formations [music for Feld's work Half time], and a work referred to as Battle hymn [Battle Hymn of the Republic]. The recording includes occasional instructions and comments by Gould, Emile Ardolino (the director of the program), Gerald Schwarz (the conductor), and Eliot Feld, as well as a discussion between Gould and Feld. The recording of a subsequent production session, held on January 10,1979, is in the Library's collection and cataloged as Recording session of The Feld Ballet /WNET/13. A videocassette of the finished program is also in the Library's collection and cataloged as *MGZIC 9-114.

The first approximate minutes of the recording is in substantial part the setting of decibel levels and the tuning of the musical instruments; at approximately 15 minutes into the recording, the rehearsal begins, initially with the Battle hymn of The republic. The recording includes occasional instructions and comments by Emile Ardolino, Morton Gould, Gerald Schwarz, and Eliot Feld. .
