Content: Recorded at New York State Theater, New York, on February 12, 1980. Onstage rehearsal of the fourth movement (Rondo alla zingarese), in practice clothes with piano accompaniment.
Creation/Production Credits: Music: Johannes Brahms, orchestrated by Arnold Schoenberg.
Performers: Danced by members of the New York City Ballet: Suzanne Farrell, Jacques d'Amboise, and ensemble. George Balanchine, John Taras, and Rosemary Dunleavy are seen conferring before rehearsal begins; Balanchine is later seen demonstrating a movement for Farrell and d'Amboise.
Funding: Preservation of this video was supported by a grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
