Notes
Content: [typewritten on reverse] Located adjacent to the Harwood Mine, about 4 miles southwest of Hazleton, Pa. and in the heart of the anthracite coal district of the United States. Installed generating capacity, 41,500 KW. BY generating power in this station, and utilizing it in the mines the coal necessary to mine and prepare one ton of anthracite coal has been reduced from about one-tenth of a ton, as required under old methods, to about one-seventieth of a ton. 1/8/24 [handwritten on separate paper] This is another mine mouth power plant, with electric transmission. It is interesting to note that there is no place in the United States more than 200 miles from a possible mine power house, or possible hydro-electric station. If all these are ever developed into super power zones and all the zones attached to each other we will have an efficient power system for the nation. What it would mean in economy, comfort and convenience no man could predict.
