Content: Printed on border: "The determination to organize a Second Regiment of Fire Zouaves was announced in the following appeal: United States National Guard (Second Regiment New York Fire Department Zouaves): The undersigned, being desirous of forming a Second Regiment composed of the members of the Fire Department, to be called the Second Regiment of New York Zouaves, would like to meet such members of the Fire Department as would be willing to join such a regiment, at the 'Gotham,' No. 298 Bowery, on Saturday evening, May 4th [1861], at 8 p.m. All the outfits having been arranged for, the regiment may be able to complete its organization within ten days."
