"Scenes during the wars of the Romans against the Dacians, 101-106 A.D. Bas-relief, Trajan's Column, Rome, 113-114 A.D. Engr. early 18th cen."--written on border.Roman soldiers of the Praetorian Guard (emperor’s escort) stand in front of their walled camp with tents inside. Behind them are the silo-like tombs of legionaries who died on campaign with more soldiers standing near them. Relief from Trajan’s Column in Rome.
