Content: Written on border: "June 1849" Foxing on image. Printed on border: "Besides these, we may insert the following representations of the fashions of the day. This is what was called chapeau, au bateau renversé, with a veil of white gauze which extended over the shoulders as far as the waist." "The next has the date of April, 1787, and is called chapeau de Sparterie. The dress has a double collar, one of which is couleur de rose. The sleeves are what was called à la marinière. The rest of the costume was of various materials, and explained itself."
