Notes
Content: Written on border: "v4" Printed on border: "The elephant, which is hollow in its interior, measures 42 ft. in height, and is electrically illuminated throughout, even to a globular arc-lamp of great size which he holds at the end of his uplifted trunk, and the powerful rays of which illuminate the grounds throughout. In its right fore-leg is constructed a small staircase, through which visitors ascend into the body, where they find a small but charmingly furnished Turkish saloon, at the end of which is a miniature stage, upon which performers from the Far East display their vocal and dancing powers."
