Content: Printed on verso: "St. Mark's Church is in the old colonial style of ecclesiastical architecture. The interior preserves old time quaintness, and displays many memorial tablets. Peter Stuyvesant, the Dutch Governor, lies buried in a vault beneath the eastern outer wall, where also repose the remains of Henry Sloughter, the English Royal Governor and Daniel Tompkins. The church was originally called "Two Mile-Stone Meeting House," being two miles from the centre of the city. The original church, organised in 1791, was torn down, and the present edifice erected in 1826."
