Content: Periodical clipping on verso: "Grizzly giant, estimated by John Muir as being upwards of four thousand years old, Largest tree in Mariposa Grove." and "Mariposa Big Tree Grove. - The Mariposa Big Trees (Sequoia gigantea) lie within the southern boundary of Yosemite National Park, open only in the summer and autumn months. The Mark Twain, the Tallest Tree is 331 feet high and the largest (such as the Grizzly Giant and the Washington) are over 29 feet in diameter at base. The Wawona tree, 26 feet in diameter is tunneled and the auto road passes through its trunk. The age of these trees is estimated at over 3,000 years old. Within the Park are also smaller Tuolumne and Merced groves of Sequoias."
