Content: Written on border: "The nymphs Meliades and of Hesperides. Those standing carry branches of the golden apples, except one who presents a calathus filled with wool to one of the seated nymphs. Another version of this scene is--Ceres received at Eleusis by Metanira, wife of Celeus who is king of Eleusis. Metanira offers Ceres the mysterious drink or nectar, the cyceon. Gerhard Collection."
