Content: After losing a music contest with Apollo, the satyr Marsyas is flayed alive as punishment. Marsyas is fastened to a pine tree from which is suspended a skin enclosing flutes. Apollo with a knife is about to flay him. Pan with horns and goat legs is seated on his chlamys holding a phial and an alabastron. He looks toward Venus who holds a mirror and a myrtle wreath. Winged Eros holds a palm and bandelettes.
