Description
Part 1. Leida Snow interviews Joseph Papp, the founder of the New York Shakespeare Festival and The Public Theater in New York. He talks about the success of the New York Shakespeare Festival’s production of the musical "A chorus line" that started as a workshop of a series of taped interviews of dancers' memories, and later became the longest-running production in Broadway history up to that time. Part 2 (0:00-4:12 minutes). Leida Snow reports live after the gala that was held after the ceremony of the 1984 38th Annual Tony Awards, and announces some of the Tony Awards winners, such as the musical "Sunday in the park with George," "La Cage aux Folles" (Best Musical), Jeremy Irons (Best Actor) for his role of Henry ("The real thing"), and others. Part 2 (4:14-11:18 minutes). The segment includes Leida Snow’s brief interview with Joseph Papp who talks about budgeting theatrical productions for educational purposes, such as bringing them to the city schools, and subsidizing tickets for school students for various Broadway shows.
