Content: Handwritten note on the original container: "A (7 1/2 ips) 7 Rhythm Studies ; half track mono ; [illegible] ; Conlon Nancarrow ; Crises: #1, #2, #4, #5, #6".
Content: Contains music selections used for Merce Cunningham's Crises (1960). The original study nos. 3 and 4 were never commercially recorded; study no. 7 was edited in a variety of ways for Crises.
Numbering: Donor's inventory number: R013.
Content: Accompanying insert is an envelope printed with the Cunningham Dance Foundation address, typed to Merce Cunningham, with handwritten notes on the back: "[illegible]/4/80 ; Nancarrow Studies tape ; (#1) - 2'25 (#2) 2'35 - 4'45 (?) Extent: 1 audiotape reel (29 minutes) : analog, 7 1/2 ips, half track, mono ; 7 in.
Sound quality is poor as there is a low hum, recording interference and "hiss" throughout the recording; at times the recording volume of the piano is low.
