Description
Satirical scene, takes place in a parlor or dressing room, perhaps backstage at the theater. The dancer ("Miss-prend") stands, balanced on one leg at the center of the print; she wears a white décolleté gown adorned with gold stars; she holds a tambourine. "Miss-prend" reaches toward her gentleman caller ("Lord-donnat") who looks across the room with an agitated expression. He wears a long blue coat with a small dog in the pocket and a bucket-like hat on his head. His portly belly and chin are reflected in a tall dressing mirror facing him. Behind the mirror hides another man, dressed in a black top hat and black boots. He stands in front of a table upon which gold coins and paper notes are visible. At the rear of the room a white cat sits perched on an ottoman.
