Description
Leida Snow interviews Jule Styne, a British-American songwriter especially famous for a series of Broadway musicals, which include several very well known and frequently revived shows. Styne talks about his career that he switched from pianist and band leader to songwriter later. He shares his experience working with his long-term collaborators--lyricist Sammy Cahn, and composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim--and with various well-known singers such as Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand, for whom he wrote songs crafted for their specific voices. He also discusses various topics related to production of his musicals such as Gypsy and Funny girl.
