Biographical/historical: La vedova nel giorno delle nozze, roughly translated as The widow on her wedding day (choreography and scenario, Luigi Henry; scenery, Alessandro Sanquirico) was presented at the Teatro Carcano, Milan, ca. 1830. Set in the Spanish city of Córdoba, its characters included, despite its folksy-sounding title, the royal personages Ferdinand V and Isabella, perhaps best known to Americans as the patrons of Christopher Columbus.
