Description
First full-length performance of a Tibetan folk opera, or lha-mo, in the U.S. The opera, which combines instrumental and vocal music, dance, dialogue, and improvisational comedy, tells the story of the changing fortunes of the beautiful Sukyi Nima. The opera's duration is ca. 317 min. (cassettes 1 through 6). Cassette 7 (ca. 52 min.) contains acknowledgment speeches, a closing ceremony, and a circle dance with audience participation.
