Interview with Alwin Nikolais conducted by Marian Horosko at the Henry Street Playhouse, in New York (N.Y.), for broadcast on the series, Dance New York, on radio station WBAI-FM, New York, on November 12 and 13, 1969. Streaming file (approximately 21 minutes). Alwin Nikolais speaks with Marian Horosko about touring with his company, the Alwin Nikolais Dance Company, including its recent European tour; the favorable critical reception and interest in American modern dance in Europe; the upcoming performance and residency at Brooklyn College; how he describes his dance works including his view of the term "multimedia;" the philosophy underlying the so-called "dehumanization" of the human figure in his works [a recorded excerpt from the music, composed by Nikolais as accompaniment to his work Triptych, is played].
