Description
According to Van Stolk and Muller, there are apparently five states of this print and this impression is from the first state. The image by Berge was originally created ca. 1697 as an illustration in Cornelis Sweerts's publication, Mengelzangen en zinnebeelden. The letterpress was probably created around 1720 according to the Rijksmuseum. See also record 31084.1, which pertains to etching/engraving by Berge. To view the record specifically referring the five verses in Dutch, see record 31084.2.
