Biographical/Historical: The copperplate engravings were party favors for the 53 guests at SLC's 67th birthday, celebrated at the Metropolitan Club, New York, on November 28, 1902. All had an individual dedication on paper and a leather case with tooled name of recipient.

Extent: 1 engraving
Copper plate engraving of self-caricature. Signed in normal script "Truly Yours Mark Twain" and with note, also normal script, "N.B. I cannot make a good mouth, therefore leave it out. There is enough without it anyway. Done with the best ink. M. T." With recess for individual dedication to "William M. Laffan. To the pleasant barrels we've drunk together! Mark Twain" Accompanied by note, dating from time of sale. 1 leaf.
