Content: Caption on back: "Thousands of Negro shipyard workers in the Kaiser yards at Richmond, Calif., participated in the launching of the SS S. Hall Young on March 31, 1943, after Miss Beulah Whittington, an employee of three days' standing, drew sponsor's ticket from a pool of 35,000 employees; Marcus Hall, shipyard worker who is a protege of Roland Hayes, was soloist at the launching ceremony in Richmond Shipyard No. 2; The liberty ship SS George Washington Carver will be launched soon at the adjacent Richmond Shipyard No. 1."
