This performance of Fluid canvas was part of a program celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. The recording begins with a brief speech in honor of the occasion; Cunningham and Carolyn Brown, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and others then throw dice to determine the order of music for the evening's program. The performance of Fluid canvas begins at 8 min. into the video.
