Title devised by cataloger.
Acquisition: Gift; Estate of Josephine Butler.
Biographical/historical: Ohio-born Ada Peacock designed costumes for the Broadway musicals Happy go lucky (Liberty Theatre, 1926) and Honeymoon lane (Knickerbocker Theatre, 1926). In London, she designed costumes for Follow the sun, Charles B. Cochran's 1936 revue (Royal Adelphi Theatre). She married an Englishman and moved with him to Argentina, where she produced watercolor and gouache paintings of the people, costumes, and customs of Argentina and other South American countries. She also designed menu covers for shipping lines.
