Content: Interview with Ted Shawn conducted by Marian Horosko, as host (approximately 15 minutes); and interview with Jane Dudley conducted by Alvin H. Reiss, as host (approximately 8 minutes), for broadcast on radio station WNYC-FM, New York on its series World of Dance, in spring, 1969.

Abstract

Marian Horosko, as host, introduces her guest Ted Shawn; Ted Shawn speaks with Horosko about Christina Schlundt's book entitled:The professional appearances of Ted Shawn & his men dancers; a chronology and an index of dances, 1933-1940 (1967), and the pioneering role of his all-male company ; Jacob's Pillow and nearby cultural institutions including South Mountain [Concert Hall]; the architecture of the theater at Jacob's Pillow; the many world premieres and company debuts that took place at Jacob's Pillow; plans for the first few weeks of the upcoming season; subsidies and grants. Streaming file (from approximately 14:47 to 23:06). Alvin H. Reiss, as host, introduces his guest Jane Dudley; Jane Dudley speaks with Reiss about her background in dance; the Neighborhood Playhouse, including its historic role in dance education; the current curriculum; the participation of acting students in the dance classes; the student body.
