Content: Danzig (now Gdansk in Poland) was given special "city-state" status after World War I to allow newly-recreated Poland access to the sea. German propaganda claimed that the city rightly belonged to the Reich; Hitler later used this claim as one of his excuses to attack Poland.
Content: The banners read (left to right): "We want to go home to the Reich", "We won't budge from this spot until our Dr. Goebbels...", "We greet our Führer".
