Acquisition: Gift; Lillian Moore.
Biographical/historical: Although no information about this image or musical composition has been located, the words and gesture indicate seem to be meant as political commentary. The polka, a popular ballroom dance and musical form of the period, appeared in many incarnations during this time.

Probably a sheet music cover illustration. Depiction of a young woman whose calf-length skirt and pose imply that she is a dancer. On the front of her skirt is superimposed a large bust-length image of a man making the derisive gesture of thumbing his nose. A banner below him reads "No you dont!"
