Abstract

Sun Ock Lee, a Korean-born dancer and choreographer who now works in the United States, discusses her cable television show in New York, her early dance training in Korea, and her move to the west. She describes Zen dance, an exercise and performance form that she has developed, integrating movement with elements of Zen Buddhist meditation. The discussion also includes her activities as a performer, choreographer, and teacher, including her work with Anna Nassif at the University of Wisconsin, and her reflections on the dancer's sense of self-transformation in performance.
