Content: Printed on image: "André Fashions" "NAUTICAL COAT[.] New smooth shoulder treatment" "designed by Pearl Alexander" "ANDRE' 570 - 7th Ave New York City Feb. 17, 1941"
Content: The back of the coat's collar is large and square ("sailor's collar") in nautical style, while the large buttons on the front resemble those on a pea coat. Overlapping layers of buttoned fabric on the sleeves mimic chevrons on a military uniform. Even the hat looks like a French sailor's hat.
Content: Written on image at top, next to arrow pointing at collar: "white caracul". Caracul is Persian lamb, or a fabric woven to look like it.
Content: Image includes small sketch of back of garment. Note how typed date of drawing has neen corrected in pen.
