Description
David Berger interviews August Everding, opera director and administrator (Germany Today, program no. 767), who discusses his career as opera stage director, and shares his experiences working at various opera houses in Europe and America, such as Hamburg Opera House and Metropolitan Opera in New York in the 1960's-1970's, and his vision of modern staging of both classical and contemporary opera. He also talks about revivals of forgotten baroque operas he would like to produce such as one of George Frideric Handel's operas. Includes a short excerpt from an audio recording of the 1974 Metropolitan Opera production of Mussorgsky's opera Boris Godunov [August Everding, director].
