Abstract

Dr. Sarah Hilsendager, a dance educator and administrator who is now chairman of the dance department at Temple University, Philadelphia, discusses some aspects of dance education in the U.S. today. She describes the program at Temple University and notes some of the problems encountered in the university situation. She cites the work done by organizations such as the National Association of Schools of Dance, which provides guidelines and accreditation for colleges and universities, and the National Dance Association, part of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, which provides an important link with the public.
