Interview with Flemming Flindt conducted by John Gruen, as host, for broadcast on May 17, 1976 by radio station WNCN-FM, New York on its series The sound of dance. Streaming audio file (approximately one hour and four minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by Oscar Buhler.] John Gruen, host, and Flemming Flindt speak about the recent performances by the Royal Danish Ballet [Kongelige Danske ballet] in Washington, D.C., and the company's upcoming performances in New York; the Bournonville style; the ballets to be performed in New York [a recording of music by Hermann Løwenskjold from the ballet La sylphide, is played]; Flindt's background and early career; [Eugene] Ionesco's plays as a source of inspiration for Flindt's choreography; more on the works to be performed in New York; his expansion of the company's repertory [a recording of music by the group Savage Rose, used in Flindt's ballet The triumph of death, originally titled: Dødens triumf, is played; Gruen's brief comments on the music are followed by commercial announcements]; Flindt and Gruen speak about Flindt's work The four seasons; guest artists; the burden of being the sole ballet company in Denmark; his ballet the Triumph of death [a recording of the Winter section of Antonio Vivaldi's The four seasons (Cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione) is played]; Flindt speaks about a possible idea for a new ballet; John Neumeier's new Romeo and Juliet; August Bournonville's ballet Napoli; more on the problems faced by the company; the updating of its repertory [Gruen announces the particulars relating to various upcoming dance-related events]; Flindt speaks very briefly about the school associated with the company [Gruen's closing remarks; music].
