The sound quality ranges is fair overall. Alvin Ailey's voice is clear but that of Walter Terry's is low in volume and at times difficult to understand.

Alvin Ailey speaks with Walter Terry about Hugh Masekela and Masekela's music; his new work Masekela language, in particular the meaning of the word "language;" the themes of the dance including its intended evocations of Katherine Dunham and Chicago; more on Masekela's music; the folk dancing he saw performed in cabarets in Uganda; his 1967 African tour and its influence on his choreography; Ruth Beckford; black dance in America including how he characterizes his own work; more on Masekela language; Judith Jamison; an anecdote about performing for Jomo Kenyatta in Kenya.
