Abstract
Eleusis is a small town near Athens. Triptolemus was a mythical "culture hero" who taught mankind the arts of agriculture. A libation is a sacrifice made by pouring liquid, usually wine, onto an altar or the ground. "Talaric" means "reaching to the ankles", while a "cecryphale" was a sort of combination bonnet and kerchief worn by ancient Greek women.
