Notes

Biographical/Historical: The printing and publishing house of Maison Martinet was founded in 1796 by Aaron Martinet, 1762-1841, who became well-known for publishing satirical prints. In 1822 the firm assumed the name Hautecoeur-Martinet, after Martinet's son-in-law Hermenégilde Hautecoeur, who became its head after Martinet's retirement in 1824. The brothers Eugène and Alfred Hautecoeur, the Hautecoeur Frères, managed the business from 1843 to 1867. Jules Hautecoeur, Alfred's son and the great-grandson of the founder, later became the sole proprietor of Ancienne Maison Martinet.
Content: Geneviève de Brabant, opéra-féerie by Jacques Offenbach, was presented at the Théâtre de la Gaité in 1875.
Statement Of Responsibility: Levilly lith. d'après Grévin
Acquisition: Gift; Lillian Moore
Bibliographic History: This print was probably published as part of the series Nouvelle galerie dramatique.
