Description
Bonnie Bird, who has been associated with the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London since 1973, discusses the path that led her there, beginning with her interest in movement education for children, and her work with Irmgard Bartenieff at the Dance Notation Bureau in New York. Looking back to her early dance training at the Cornish School in Seattle, she recalls some of her teachers there, among them Ronny Johansson and Martha Graham, and describes the continuation of her studies with Graham and Louis Horst at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. She discusses how she began to develop a new philosophy of education upon returning to the Cornish School as head of its dance department.
