Description
Thanking him for his exertions relative to the Stamp Act and to the charter for the academy at Hatfield; expenses at Harvard and Yale, state of morality there, the distance from Hampshire County, and the rapid settlement of the country to the northward are among the reasons urging them to ask for this charter; recent remarkable revival of religion. In a postscript he asks if there is any chance for a grant of land similar to that received by "the Jersey College.".
