Description
Explains the omission of his (McKean's) name from the Declaration of Independence as printed in the Journals of Congress and in other publications; he was present on July 4th and voted for independence, but left soon after with his battalion of militia; did not sign his name to the engrossed parchment until after his return, some time later in the same year.
